“Forest Flight” was inspired by my experiences at the 2019 Chincoteague Pony round-up and swim. After arising before the dawn for the South Herd Roundup, Mark and I went for a run in the heat of the day through the Assateague woods. When we ducked into narrow paths off the main trail, it was like disappearing into different cool, shady world. I imagined being a pony, flying full-out for the seer joy of it, in my own woodland realm.
