“Picture Wild Ponies” was born from a lifetime love of Chincoteague and Assateague Islands and their iconic wild ponies. Many visits through the years allowed me to photograph and paint my beloved pony bands and examine methods of management on public lands.
In 2019 I spent two weeks immersed in the annual “Pony Penning” roundup and swim, immortalized in the childrens book, “Misty of Chincoteague.” I took thousands of photographs which became inspiration in the ongoing creation of artworks in a variety of media. That experience is chronicled in the book, which is part documentary, part studio journal. My favorite images are corralled in the 2021 Calendar, available by clicking here.
